FDICconnect Examination File Exchange
FDICconnect Examination File Exchange (EFE)
In the past, the Department has used the ZixCorp to send secure encrypted e-mail communication between the Department and our customers. The Department has been regularly using the ZixCorp system to send out requests for information to banks during the past year. Our department is pleased to announce its partnership through the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) with the FDIC on the FDICconnect Examination File Exchange (EFE) Project. The EFE system is specifically designed to support the secure transmission of examination information during the pre-examination and examination process. The FDIC recently issued FIL 53-2007 relating to the FDICconnect EFE system. You can access the FIL by visiting http://www.fdic.gov/news/news/financial/2007/fil07053.html#body
With the implementation of the FDICconnect EFE, the Department will phase in the use of the EFE system beginning August 1, 2007, for all requests for information files relating to upcoming scheduled examinations instead of the ZixCorp system. Banks can expect to receive an e-mail message from the Department with all requests for information files. The e-mail will be sent to the bank’s designated FDICconnect coordinators. If your bank is not EFE ready, then you must complete a Designated Coordinator Registration Form so that secure EFE exchanges can be made with the Department and the FDIC. To obtain a Designated Coordinator Registration Form, please contact Supervisory Manager Lori Godfrey at lgodfrey@dbf.state.ga.us or (770)986-1636 or you can get this form from your contact at the FDIC.
