The Georgia Department of Banking and Finance does not regulate the home mortgage appraisal process; rather, appraisers are regulated by the Georgia Real Estate Commission and Appraisers Board (www.grec.state.ga.us).

Find an Appraiser on the ASC website (Note: ASC or Appraisal Subcommittee has a National Registry database containing selected information about the Nation's State certified and licensed real estate appraisers).
Q: I paid for an appraisal. Why won’t the mortgage company give it to me?
A: Federal law (Regulation B) requires a creditor to provide a copy of the appraisal report upon the applicant's written request. However, the original appraisal belongs to whoever ordered it, and not necessarily to the party that paid for the appraisal.
