You can access one of the links provided below to obtain information regarding banks or credit unions that have merged, changed names, or are otherwise no longer in existence. If the information at the two sites below is not sufficient and the bank in question is a Georgia-chartered bank, you may contact the Department at (770) 986-1633 for additional information.

Under state law, dormant funds are remitted to the State of Georgia Department of Revenue. Demand deposit accounts are deemed to be dormant after 12 months and time and savings accounts are deemed to be dormant after a period of five years without activity. The permitted fees and practices regarding dormant accounts are addressed in Chapter 80-1-8 of the Rules and Regulations of the Department of Banking and Finance and the Disposition of Unclaimed Properties Act of the Department of Revenue.
