Complaints and Inquiries

The Department regulates Georgia state-chartered banks and credit unions, check cashers, check sellers, money transmitters, and residential mortgage brokers, lenders, processors and originators doing business in this State. 

The Department does not regulate or have jurisdiction over banks or credit unions that are federally chartered (e.g., Wells Fargo, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase) or headquartered in another state (e.g., Regions Bank, BB&T) and cannot assist with any consumer inquiries or complaints concerning these institutions.

The Department cannot act as your lawyer or give you legal advice, recommend a financial institution with whom to do business, or force the financial institution or licensee to satisfy you if no laws have been broken.
