The Department has regulatory and/or licensing authority over money services businesses (check cashers, sellers-issuers of payment instruments and money transmitters - collectively referred to as MSBs) conducting business in Georgia. Use the search options below to determine the license status of a company.
A person or company that cashes checks or other payment instruments for a fee or other consideration must have a license from this Department. A person or company that cashes checks for more than $1,000 per person per day must register with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) as an MSB.
