Department of Banking and Finance Enters into a Consent Order with Hanmar, Inc. d/b/a Gas and Go Food Store and its President, Othman Awad

Atlanta, Georgia ~ On August 10, 2009, the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance (“Department”) entered into a Consent Order with Hanmar, Inc. d/b/a Gas and Go Food Store (“Hanmar”), Registration Number 22959, located at 2320 Highway 411, Cartersville, Georgia 30121, and its president, Othman Awad.   By entering into this Consent Order, a resolution was reached to resolve allegations raised by the Department that laws and rules governing the check cashing industry had been violated.

The terms of the Consent Order include the following:

  • The revocation of Hanmar’s check cashing registration was effective as of August 10, 2009. Hanmar can never apply to the Department for another registration or license to be a check casher in Georgia; and,

  • The Department’s Order to Cease and Desist against Othman Awad became final on August 10, 2009.
