In order to improve our service, the Department is implementing electronic document submission for correspondence. Regular and ongoing correspondence should be submitted to the designated Department recipient through email.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Georgia Administrative Procedure Act, O.C.G.A. § 50-13-1 et seq., and by the authority of O.C.G.A. §§ 7-1-61, 7-1-1001.1, 7-1-1012, and other cited statutes, the Department of Banking and Finance hereby gives notice of its intent to adopt new rules.
Georgia State-chartered financial institutions have the discretion to close business operations in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency, including situations where an emergency is imminent.
The Department will consider proposed new rules for adoption at a meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 9, 2019 at the offices of the Department of Banking and Finance at Suite 200, 2990 Brandywine Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30341.

Please be reminded of the following for the upcoming semi-annual reporting period, which applies to reporting and remittance for any fees collected January 1, 2018 – June 30, 2018 (“18A”):
IF YOU DID NOT CLOSE ANY LOANS DURING THE SEMI-ANNUAL PERIOD AND HAVE NO FEES TO SUBMIT, NO REPORTING OR FURTHER ACTION IS REQUIRED ON YOUR PART.
Quarterly reports for Money Transmitter and Seller of Payment Instrument licensees are now due for transactions that occurred between July 1, 2017 and September 30, 2017.
From Thursday, August 17th at 5:00 pm through Monday, August 21st at 6:00 am, the Department’s network will undergo scheduled maintenance.
Don’t risk license expiration! Mortgage brokers and lenders are required to maintain surety bond coverage and must utilize the Electronic Surety Bonds (ESB) feature through NMLS to meet Georgia’s surety bond requirements for the 2018 Annual License year.
The Department has adopted the NMLS Money Services Businesses Call Report (MSBCR) functionality for submission of routine financial and transactional reporting requirements by Seller of Payment Instrument and Money Transmitter Licensees.
In preparation for the possible impact of Hurricane Matthew, the Department would like to remind all Georgia state-chartered institutions of emergency closing notification procedures.
