How Do I Apply for an MSB License?

An MSB license is required for the following license types:  Check Cashers and Money Transmitters.  Any additional Georgia office location outside of the check casher’s main office does not require a separate license, but it does require branch approval.  Branches fall under the company’s check casher license.

Application and Requirements

• All MSB license applications must be made through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).

New Application Fees

• Check Casher - $550 plus additional NMLS fees
• Money Transmitter - $2150 plus additional NMLS fees
• Check Casher Branch - $30 plus additional NMLS fees (Please note that check casher branches do not have a separate license, but still require Department approval if located in Georgia.  Branches fall under the company’s license.)
