How Do I Apply for an MSB License?

An MSB license is required for the following license types:  Check Cashers and Money Transmitters.  Any additional Georgia office location outside of the check casher’s main office does not require a separate license, but it does require branch approval.  Branches fall under the company’s check casher license.

APPLICATION and REQUIREMENTS

•All MSB license applications must be made through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).  Click HERE to access NMLS.

NEW APPLICATION FEES

•Check Casher - $550 plus additional NMLS fees

•Money Transmitter - $2150 plus additional NMLS fees

•Check Casher Branch - $30 plus additional NMLS fees (Please note that check casher branches do not have a separate license, but still require Department approval if located in Georgia.  Branches fall under the company’s license.)
