MLO Education & Testing

Individuals seeking to obtain or maintain their MLO license must complete the relevant testing and education requirements.  Testing and education provider information, as well as guides on completing testing and education, can be found on the NMLS Resource Center under Professional Standards at https://mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org/profreq/Pages/default.aspx.

Pre-Licensure Education & Testing

20 hours of pre-licensure education (PE) is required in order to be eligible for a Georgia MLO license.  Georgia does not have any state specific requirements for pre-licensure education.  (Please note that pre-licensure education expires after three consecutive years  without  a  valid  mortgage  loan  originator  license  or  federal  registration.)

A passing score of 75 or higher on the National and Georgia State components of the SAFE  Test  or  the  National  and  Stand-alone  UST  components  of  the  SAFE  Test is also required in order to be eligible for a Georgia MLO license.  (Please note that test results expire after five consecutive years without  a  valid  mortgage  loan  originator  license  or  federal  registration.)

Continuing Education

To renew your Georgia MLO license, eight (8) hours of continuing education (CE) is required by October 31, unless you completed your pre-licensure education (PE) course requirements in the same year in which your initial MLO license was approved and is being renewed.  One (1) hour of Georgia specific education is required for CE.
